The National Weather Service issued a tornado warning for northern Pinellas County near Dunedin, as a funnel was seen three miles north of Odessa in Pasco County.

The National Weather Service’s Doppler Radar reported thunderstorms with capability of producing more than 60 miles per hour winds eight miles southwest of Dunedin and moving northeast at 40 miles per hour.

This storm system is expected to move into the Hillsborough Tampa area and not directly effect Largo. However another storm system moving in from the Gulf will cause severe thunderstorms throughout the day and evening to Largo and neighboring cities, said Ernie Jillson, National Weather Service meteorologist in the Ruskin.

“More storms are coming in from the Gulf. Expect them anytime...there can be some storms anywhere between now and 1 p.m.,” Jilson said

The tornado watch will stay in effect until 1 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.

Although there’s nothing effecting the southern part of Pinellas, “Keep an eye to the sky,” Jillson said, "Listen to later warnings because more storms are coming.”

“Things can change pretty quickly, really within the next hour,” Jillson added.
