Sheriff Identifies Coral Way Aggravated Battery Victim

Stuart Shipp called the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office after he was injured in an early morning physical confrontation, according to deputies.

Pinellas County Sheriff's deputies investigated an early morning "stabbing" near Ulmerton Road and Coral Way.

Deputies interviewed Shipp, 48, and learned he was involved in a physical confrontation with an unknown black male suspect over money. During the confrontation, Shipp alleges he was cut with an unknown object, according to a news release.

Shipp called the sheriff's office early this morning to report the incident. He was treated for non-life threatening injuries at a local hospital. He should be released from the hospital later today, according to a news release.

At the hospital Shipp told the deputies he was not interested in pursuing charges and he did not want to continue with the investigation, officials said.
