Sheriff's Office Looking For a Few Good Volunteers
Training for volunteers in Pinellas County is just around the corner.

Pinellas County residents who want to see what it’s like to be a law enforcement officer while lending a hand to make the community safer are getting their chance.
The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office has announced it is accepting applications for its next Sheriff’s Volunteer Patrol Academy. The training program takes place at 10750 Ulmerton Road in Largo and opens the doors for those who want to volunteer to work side-by-side with deputies.
Potential volunteers must:

- Be U.S. citizens
- Be full or part-time Pinellas County residents
- Be least 25 years old
- Possess a valid driver’s license
- Complete a volunteer application
- Pass a background check
- Complete a training academy
- Be available to volunteer at least 36 hours a quarter
Prior law enforcement experience is not required.
Volunteers help with patrol activities, such as directing traffic, issuing parking tickets, helping disabled motorists, taking part in community events and more.
