Son Stabs Parents at Seminole Home
Detectives say the son stabbed his parents while they were sleeping and that he also received a wound, which was possibly self-inflicted.
A Seminole man has been arrested and charged with two counts of attempted first-degree murder after stabbing both of his parents early Thursday morning in the home that they share.
Jason Alan Miller, 34, of 14393 Neptune Road in unincorporated Seminole, is the suspect and has been arrested. His parents, Nancy Miller, 61, and Philip Miller, 63, who live at the same residence as their son, are the victims.
All three are currently hospitalized at Bayfront Medical Center and are recovering from what appeared to be life-threatening injuries.

According to detectives, patrol deputies were called to the Millers’ residence at 12:12 a.m. on Thursday to a report of a stabbing with three persons injured.
At that time, the investigation was still preliminary. Detectives said the crime was not a random act or a home invasion and that it was in fact a domestic-related incident.

Detectives released additional details about the attack, including the names of the suspect and the victims, at approximately 1 p.m. on Thursday.
According to detectives, the victims, Philip and Nancy Miller, are out of surgery and are recovering from the injuries they received during the attack.
They told detectives they were sleeping when the suspect, their son Jason, entered their bedroom and began to stab them. Nancy Miller was able to escape the attack long enough to call 9-1-1 from her cell phone.
When deputies arrived, they found Philip, Nancy and Jason injured in the bedroom.
Both Nancy and Philip Miller suffered from multiple stab wounds to their upper torso and were taken to Bayfront Hospital. They are currently in stable condition.
Jason Miller suffered a single stab wound to his upper torso, which detectives say was possibly self-inflicted. He was also taken to Bayfront Hospital and is expected to recover.
The motive for the stabbings is considered to be undetermined, according to the victims.
Tom Nestor, sergeant and public information officer of the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office, said detectives have been working with the suspect to determine what the motivation was.
“They don’t understand why they attacked him,” said Nestor. “Right now that part of the investigation is underway.
Nestor also said that there is no hint as of yet that Jason Miller was intoxicated during the act, though that is something detectives are also looking into.
He added that he has not been told that Miller has a criminal history. Pinellas County Clerk of the Circuit Court records show no indication of him having any previously to this crime.
Gregg Bischoff, 62, a former medical-device worker who is currently unemployed, lives at the house directly west of the Millers’. He said he went to bed around 11 p.m. and heard only sirens in the middle of the night while he was sleeping, though he didn’t stir from his room, which is on the side of the house that is the farthest from the Millers’ home, to see what was causing them.
He lives with his wife, though she was with their son, who is currently hospitalized, at the time of the crime.
Bischoff described the crime as being “like a nightmare.”
“It’s a shock. [The parents are] very nice people. They didn’t deserve that.”
He added that he had no indication that the family had any problems, though he said he had little interaction with the victims' son.
“I’ve never seen them argue. They’ve always been nice to me. That’s all I can say.”
Bischoff said Jason Miller used to live in Alabama and that he moved in with his parents on Neptune Road a couple of months ago after losing his job.
He said Nancy Miller is a school teacher and is “just as nice as you could be.” He said her husband, Philip, is retired.
He added that the Jason Miller’s parents are originally from Alabama and that they moved to unincorporated Seminole from Jacksonville about four years ago. The Millers’ house on Neptune Road is currently for sale and has been for about two weeks.
Bischoff has been living at his residence on Neptune Road in unincorporated Seminole since 1987 and describes where he lives as being “a very quiet neighborhood.”
Another neighbor who lives across from the Millers said the same about the neighborhood, though she has only recently moved there from out of state. She said the neighbors keep to themselves for the most part and that she did not hear any sirens or unsettling sounds on Thursday morning.
Jason Miller is currently being guarded by deputies while being hospitalized.
Detectives are still continuing their investigation.
