Standoff Ends With Armed Man's Surrender

A 33-year-old man barricaded himself in his home Wednesday afternoon and threatened to hurt himself, authorities said.

An armed man who barricaded himself in his home and threatened to hurt himself and anyone who tried to stop him surrendered to deputies Wednesday afternoon, according to authorities. 

The  was called to the scene by the man's mother, who said her 33-year-old son had argued with her husband.

The man's parents were standing outside the home when deputies arrived. The incident occurred at 9096 109th Terrace N in unincorporated Largo.

Deputies evacuated the surrounding residences as they attempted to negotiate a peaceful surrender, officials said.

About 1:30 p.m., the man surrendered to deputies, officials said.
