Viewfinder: Pinellas County Rollergirls

While roller derby has been around for a while, it's been getting more attention lately with feature films about it. Now more teams are popping up. The Pinellas County Rollergirls are the newest team in Florida to start up.

Within two weeks, the women starting up the team have managed to get more than twelve members raring to  skate. As of right now, they're looking for anyone who has interest in roller derby and encouraging them to come check out the practice. The practices teach prospective players how to skate, drills and moves used in games and physical training.

The only thing new players need to bring is a mouthguard as the Pinellas County Rollergirls have loaner gear available. Practices are every Tuesday and Thursday at Astro Skate, 10001 66th Street North, at 8:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.
