Walsingham Elementary Student Injured in School Bus Accident

A child was taken to the hospital for minor injuries after the school bus he was on was hit by a car.

One student was transported to   this morning after a school bus accident, said Melanie Marquez, a spokeswoman with the Pinellas County Schools.

The bus was on US-19 and 66th St. N when it was side swiped by a car around 6:55 a.m., Marquez said.

The approximately nine-year-old student was looking out a window when another vehicle struck the bus. The child hit his head and was taken to the hospital with very minor injuries, according to the Tampa Bay Times.

There were 35 students and one assistant on the bus at the time of the accident. The rest of the students were transported to school by another bus, Marquez said.
