Weekend Things To Do: 'Mister Roberts' Play, Veterans Day Ceremony, Family Camping

1. Watch a play at the Largo Cultural Center! From Nov. 10-13 the cultural center's Eight O'Click Theater presents Mister Roberts,  a World War II era play that touches on a side of war that is often forgotten- the boredom of men assigned to less glamorous work. In this play Navy veterans may look at the officers and men of AK 601 and say, "That was just like my ship!"

2. All day activities at Southwest Recreation Complex on 11/11/11. There will be 11 things for $1. Here's what you can get for a buck with a valid recreation membership from 6am-8:30pm on Nov. 11.

• Cost: For $1 you can get: fitness center daily admission, tennis court drop-in, 11 min fitness training with Brandon McIntosh, dodgeball admission  and pizza; group cycling class, arthritis class and more.

3. Family Cookout and Campout at McGough Nature Park.  Join the recreation center for a memorable cookout and campout. The event includes hiking the nature trails through the dark, roasting marshmallows by a campfire, sharing spooky stories and more! Bring your tent and camping gear. Set up early to avoid the mosquitoes. Dinner and breakfast are provided. To register call the park office at (727)518-3047. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

4. In honor of Veterans Day the city will have a ceremony at  at the Military Court of Honor on Friday, Nov. 11 from 7-9 p.m. There will be music by Florida Fan Fare Brass, a keynote speaker and color guard presentation.

5. Character Breakfast on Saturday: Meet your famous clubhouse characters Meeska Mooska and the famous mouse. Kids can are encouraged to dress like your favorite character. This is a family friendly event. Preregistration is required, call (727) 518-3016.

6. Let's Go Science.  Kids will have a wacky look at how things work with Dr. Knowitall and Professor Smart.
