On a drive around town, ever wonder what new business is being developed on an empty lot or in a vacant building?

Here's an update from the Community Development Department Web site:

1. Chase Bank (Crossroads)

• 2675 Roosevelt Blvd.
• New construction of a 4,215 square-foot Chase bank with three drive-through lanes. This project will be one in a series of phased projects at the Crossroads development. Project pending, awaiting re-submittal of comments.

2. Chase Bank (Barclay Square)

• 13883 Walsingham Rd.
• Construction of a new 4,450 square-foot Chase Bank with three  drive-through lanes at Barclay Square. Project pending, awaiting re-submittal of comments.

3. Circle K-( gas station & convenience store)

• 1499 Belcher Rd.
• Demolition of a vacant 3,016 square-foot bank to redevelop the site with a 4,000 square-foot building consisting of a gas station and convenience store. Project pending, comments sent to applicant.

4. Clear Channel Outdoor- (office building)

• 55555 Ulmerton Rd.
• A portion of the property will be redeveloped to accommodate a new 8,930 square-foot corporate office building with the eventual demolition of the existing 6,191 square-foot office building, while maintaining all other commercial buildings on site. Project pending. Development Order has been signed.

5. Highland Office Building

• 1169 8th Ave NE (also on 7th Ave NE and Highland Ave)
• 14,601 square-foot professional office building. Project is pending and a Development Order has been issued.

• 400 Highland Ave.
• Construction of a new 45,695 square-foot recreational complex. Construction on the first phase of the project has started.

7. McDonald's (Crossroads)

• 2675 Roosevelt Blvd.
• Construction of a new 3,889 square-foot restaurant. This project will be one in a series of phased projects at the Crossroads development. Project pending re-submittal.

• 1250 West Bay Drive
• New building, reconstruct/improve the existing parking area, provide new landscaping, provide new signage, improve the drainage system and provide other improvements to the property as required by the Comprehensive Development Code. Project pending and application is under review.

9. O'Reilly Auto Parts

• 8651 Ulmerton Rd.
• Construction of a 7,650 square-foot auto parts store. Project is pending, Development Order has been signed, and planning is awaiting applicant signature.

10. Pinellas Heights- (senior housing & office building)

• 11411 Ulmerton Rd.
• Construction of a mixed-use project that includes a four-story, 154 unit, senior housing complex and a 16,675 square-foot office building. Project is pending and comments have been sent to the applicant

11. Pinellas County Sheriff's Complex

• 10750 Ulmerton Rd.
• New construction of a new Sheriff's Administration Building, Emergency Operations Center, parking garage, vehicle maintenance building, and central energy plant. The project is pending and has been routed for the third stage of comments.

12. (apartment complex)

• Southeast corner of U.S. 19 and Roosevelt Blvd.
• Construction of 342 apartment units, a clubhouse and amenities. The project is pending and a development agreement is being formalized.

13. Rubin Professional Offices (office building)

• 58th Street North & Ulmerton Rd.
• Professional office building. The project is pending and plans have been routed for the third stage of comments.

14. Seasons of Belleair (assisted living facility)

• 1704 Clearwater-Largo Rd.
• Project consists of an 80-bed assisted living facility. The project is pending and plans have been routed for the second stage of comments.

15. Seasons of Largo  (assisted living facility)

• 4175 East Bay Dr.
• An existing three-story, 54,492 square-foot building will be replaced with a one-story 42,500 square-foot building for an 80 bed assisted living facility. The project is pending and comments have been sent to the applicant.

16. Walmart at Largo Crossroads

• U.S. 19 and Roosevelt Boulevard
• Project consists of a 120,571 square-foot large-scale retail store, associated parking and a PSTA Transfer Station of the 16.19 acres. This project is pending and is currently under review.

17. Walmart

• 1000 Missouri Ave.
• Project consists of a proposed 123,000 square-foot large-scale retail store. 

18. Thurstons (proposed gas station)

• Starkey and Ulmerton
• Project may consist of a 3,000-4,000 square-foot gas station.
