Wounded Vet Gets Surprised With 'Sporty' Mobility Vehicle

Check out the big reveal of the tricked-out SUV on Tuesday in Largo.

A local company and a reality TV show set out to create an accessible vehicle that would change how people think about mobility transportation. What resulted was a camouflage colored, double-door SUV complete with flatscreen TV — and a big surprise for an area veteran.

Lance Cpl. Michael DeLancey is the worthy recipient of the vehicle. He was chosen by sponsor BraunAbility, which has a regional office in Clearwater, and by TV's West Coast Customs because of his dedication to helping other disabled veterans and for his volunteer work with Wounded Warrior Project.

The unveiling of DeLancey's new ride took place Tuesday afternoon at Custom Mobility in Largo. More than 300 people came out in support of DeLancey, of Pinellas Park, who was paralyzed by a sniper's bullet in Iraq in 2006.

West Coast Customs filmed the event for an upcoming episode of the show.

The video with this story captures the big reveal and DeLancey's reaction to his new ride.
