• Longboat Key joins nation in recognizing 25th anniversary of 9/11 attacks (yourobserver.com) — Longboat Key residents marked the 25th anniversary of 9/11 with nearly 3,000 American flags lining Gulf of Mexico Drive, one for each life lost. Public Works crews and the Chamber of Commerce helped maintain the long-running tribute, which local officials say keeps the memory alive for newer generations and underscores the town's close-knit, patriotic spirit.
   

• Longboat Key Approves $13.5M Library, First County Branch on the Island – WENG 98.1FM, 107.5 FM & 1530 AM (wengradio.com) — Longboat Key has officially approved agreements for a $13.5 million Vern and Sandy Buchanan Sarasota County Library, the island's first county branch, to be built on Town Center Green. With construction slated to start in March, the town, residents, and donors are partnering on funding a space that will double as a learning hub and storm-emergency resource for the community.
