13-Year-Old Dies From Injuries Suffered In Oct. 7 Crash

PASCO COUNTY, FL — A 13-year-old boy has died from injuries suffered in an Oct. 7 crash on Interstate 75 in Pasco County.

The Florida Highway Patrol announced that the boy died Monday.

At 11 a.m. Oct. 7, three vehicles were heading south on the interstate when two cars slowed down for traffic ahead. However, the 33-year-old driver of a pickup truck from Brooksville was distracted after spilling coffee on himself and didn't see the cars ahead slow down.

He struck the rear of a car driven by a 27- year-old Horatio, Arkansas, woman, who was propelled into the rear of a car driven by a 28-year-old Mascotte man.

The Horatio, Arkansas, woman had four passengers in her car including the 13-year-old and a 14-year-old boy.

A 33-year-old man in the car suffered serious injuries while the 13-year-old was critically injured. The others had minor injuries.
