274 Files Of Child Porn Found On Dade City Man's Computer

DADE CITY, FL — A 34-year-old Dade City man is in jail after investigators found 274 files of child porn on his home computer.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement arrested James Louis Viele Jr. of 14708 18th St., Dade City, on charges of possessing child pornography and promoting child sexual performance.

Investigators say most of the downloaded files on Viele’s computer had titles indicating they depicted child porn. Investigators opened 22 files and confirmed the subject matter.

Viele admitted that he had been downloading child pornography files since he was 17. However, he said he never sexually abused any child.

But Pasco County arrest records show Viele was arrested in 2012 for child abuse and lewd or lascivious battery for molesting/fondling a victim under age 12.

Viele’s arrest was part of an FDLE investigation attempting to find people using peer-to-peer internet software to distribute child pornography. One of the computer addresses investigators traced came from Viele’s home.

Viele was booked into Pasco County Jail in lieu of $330,000 bail.
