62-Year-Old Zephyrhills Man Dies In Single-Car Crash

ZEPHYRHILLS, FL — A 62-year-old Zephyrhills man has died following an accident on State Road 56 Monday.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, at 4:20 p.m., Richard Lee Porter was driving a Kia Optima on State Road 56 approaching the intersection of Mansfield Boulevard when he suffered a medical episode, causing the car to swerve onto the grassy shoulder, through a wood and wire fence and into a pasture, coming to rest in a marshy area.

Porter was transported to AdventHealth Wesley Chapel where he was pronounced dead.
