DADE CITY, FL — A 7-year-old boy died and five others, including a 2-year-old, were injured when an ATV overturned Saturday in Dade City.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the crash happened just after 8 p.m. in a grassy field at 17106 Powerline Road.

Troopers said the Kawasaki TERYX4 all-terrain vehicle was being driven by the 7-year-old when it overturned.

The 7-year-old died at an area hospital. The 2-year-old sustained serious injuries.

A 27-year-old man, two 34-year-old men and a 4-year-old girl suffered minor injuries.

No one on the ATV was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, according to the FHP.

The crash remains under investigation.

Due to Marsy's Law, approved by Florida voters in 2018 to protect the identities of crime victims, the Florida Highway Patrol has chosen to no longer release the names of those involved in traffic accidents.
