Overturned Tanker Truck Spills 700 Gallons of Diesel Fuel On Dade City Road

Roads in Dade City were closed as hazardous materials technicians and cleanup crews cleaned up the spill.

DADE CITY, FL —Pasco County Fire Rescue, Pasco County Emergency Management, the Pasco County Sheriff's Office and the Florida Department of Protection responded to the scene of an overturned fuel tanker truck Wednesday.

The accident happened just north of the intersection of Bellamy Brothers Boulevard and Johnston Road in the Darby community.

About 700 gallons of diesel fuel spilled on the road and into drainage ditches. Roads were closed as hazardous materials technicians and cleanup crews worked to offload the remaining fuel from the tanker and mitigate the environmental impacts of the fuel spill.

The driver was not injured.
