Bicyclist Dies After Being Struck By Vehicle In Pasco County

ZEPHYRHILLS, FL — A 24-year-old Zephyrhills man died following a crash Wednesday on Wire Road.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, at 9:08 p.m., a Ford mustang driven by a 17-year-old Dade City girl was heading north on Wire Road, approaching Otis Allen Road.

The 24-year-old and another bicyclist from Zephyrhills who was 20 were traveling north on Wire Road without lights. Unable to see the bicyclists, the 17-year-old struck the 24-year-old cyclist from behind, troopers said.

He was taken to the hospital where he later died. The 17-year-old girl and the 20-year-old cyclist were not injured.
