The Once and Future Guv'na

If you are a good Lutzian and you are paying close attention, you know that this is an important political time in the community.  The race for Guv'na is on!  This past Saturday, the Kickoff and Debate was held and we got to meet the four candidates for 2013.

For my part, I will be choosing to support my friend Suzin Carr, author of the books "I Choose," and "I Choose, Too."  Here's why:  1.  She's my friend.  2.  She is not above looking silly for a worthy cause.  If you missed the Kickoff and Debate, I happen to have a video of her singing "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star" in Hungarian while wearing a tutu.  I will show it to you for $1.00 - all proceeds will go to her campaign.  3.  She has a big heart, is ambitious, selfless, humble, and hard-working.  Okay that's more than one thing, but I'm getting tired of typing numbers - they're too far away from home position on the keyboard.

This year also happens to be Lutz's 100th birthday - I hope I look half as good when I'm her age.  I personally think it would be really exciting to have this also be the first time ever to have a repeat Guv'na and make history!  Did I mention Suzin Carr won the Guv'na race in 2009? *batting eyelashes*  Oh sure, the current Guv'na is also trying to claim the sash for the second time, but as a certain-young-man-who-shall-remain-nameless pointed out, if the current Guv'na wins two times in a row, she won't be able to ceremoniously pass the sash to someone else.  And that would be disappointing, don't you think?

All the money raised by the candidates will go to Lutz-area nonprofits, so it's a win-win situation for the community no matter who prevails, and it's a lot of fun.  So the most important thing is to get involved and support one of the candidates!  But if you choose to support the winning candidate with me, here are the upcoming fundraisers being held by Suzin Carr.  More information and updates can be found on her website www.illuminatedpublishing.com.

Tuesday, June 4th, 4-8 p.m. Gathering Place Start of Summer Party and Shopping - a portion of sales will go to the campaign when you mention "Suzin for Guv'na."

Saturday, June 8th, 9-10 a.m. Yoga with Andrea College at the Old Lutz School - $10 per person (bring water, mat, and great energy!)

Saturday, June 8th, 4-6 p.m. "I Choose" Jan's Boos - wine tasting, hors d'oeuvres, and refinement, $15 per person
