Car Takes Plunge Into Pool In Lutz Neighborhood

LUTZ, FL — With the heat index reaching 110 degrees Wednesday, it's tempting to look for creative ways to cool off. But here's one way that's not recommended by the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.
On Thursday a Lutz resident was driving a Dodge Nitro near the intersection of the ironically named road, Blind Pond Avenue, at Blessed Place when the driver swerved to avoid another car. In the process, the driver mixed up the gas and brake pedals. The Nitro knocked down a street sign, plowed through a wooden fence and the pool cage and plunged into an unsuspecting resident's backyard pool.
Luckily, no one was injured.
