Father, Daughter Arrested In Shooting Of Zephyrhills Man

A Zephyrhills father and daughter were Wednesday morning, Aug. 29, in the shooting death of a Zephyrhills man.

ZEPHYRHILLS, FL — A Zephyrhills father and daughter were Wednesday morning, Aug. 29, in the shooting death of a Zephyrhills man whose body was discovered off a rural road in Polk County.

William Porter, 50, of Zephyrhills faces a charge of second-degree murder in the death of David Ray Brady, 54, a neighbor whose body was found near Moore Road in Polk County at about 9:45 p.m. Friday, Aug. 24 (see related story).

Porter's daughter, Celina Porter, 18, also of Zephyrhills, is charged with accessory to murder after the fact.

According to the Pasco County Sheriff's Office, Porter and Brady were reportedly drinking together at their mobile home park on Daughtery Road in Zephyrhills when Brady made inappropriate comments about Celina Porter.

Porter said Brady then attacked him and drew a gun. Porter claimed he grabbed the gun away from Brady and fatally shot him in the chest.

Porter said he called his daughter and asked her to help him. Brady's body was on the ground when she arrived. They put the Brady's body into Porter's truck and drove to Polk County where they dumped the body.

Deputies found Brady’s hat, a pair of glasses and a spent .40-caliber bullet casing on the ground near Porter’s trailer.

The father and daughter were arrested and booked into the Land O' Lakes Detention Center Wednesday morning, Aug. 29.
