FEI Tampa Bay Chapter Teams Up with Junior Achievement to Support Financial Literacy among Youth
TAMPA, Fla. (May 1, 2014) – The Tampa Bay Chapter of Financial Executives International (FEI) is pleased to announce its first step in building a partnership with Junior Achievement (JA) of Tampa Bay. Members of FEI – a professional organization for senior financial executives – will volunteer at two upcoming education programs hosted by JA, a nonprofit dedicated to giving young people the knowledge and skills they need for economic success.
“There really is no better synergy than our FEI members teaching financial literacy to kids in the Junior Achievement program,” said Brian Adamski, president of FEI – Tampa Bay, and also a member of the JA regional board serving West Central Florida. “Many of our FEI members are already involved with JA, so we’re excited to form a more structured relationship that affords all of our members the opportunity to support this excellent cause.”

FEI members will participate in “FEI JA in a Day” events, at Martinez Middle School in Lutz on May 2 and at Rampello Downtown Partnership School in Tampa on May 14. At these programs, approximately a dozen FEI members will follow the JA-assigned curriculum to help students master life skills, such as budgeting and using credit wisely. FEI members will also share their real-life experiences with students.

“Junior Achievement of Tampa Bay is delighted to establish this new formal relationship with FEI,” said Jon Epps, VP of Marketing for JA of Tampa Bay. “FEI members have the knowledge and experience that makes them ideal volunteer teachers of JA’s economic education programs. We look forward to two great ‘FEI JA in a Day’ events in May.”
Leaders of FEI – Tampa Bay Chapter also plan to host one annual fundraiser to benefit JA of Tampa Bay, and will continue exploring other opportunities to support JA and its mission.
