Hello Friends!
Some people in the Weight Loss community… yes, there’s really a community of us, tell those who are trying to lose weight and those who have reached their goal, to say good-bye to food as a source of pleasure; that it is for nourishment and must be viewed as such. I understand their philosophy to an extent, however, it doesn’t mean I have to eat bland, unattractive food.
I enjoy the presentation, aroma, texture, quality, preparation and everything that comes with it more now than ever. I appreciate it more now. Before, it would barely have a chance to hit my plate before I’d inhale it. Now, I love separating the colors, textures, flavors, eating foods individually to fully experience all that it has to offer, then joining it with another to create something completely different.

I’m learning about new foods, how they effect my body, the flavor combinations, protein combinations, superfoods, etc.. Why would I merely want something thrown onto my plate merely to sustain me when I have choices? Today for brunch (late breakfast, early lunch…didn’t have time for breakfast, but fear not, I’ll eat again later in the day!) I mixed 3 different proteins: Feta Cheese (with olive oil and cracked pepper), Cottage Cheese (with Blueberries) and Pepperoni. Yum! I don’t “plate” my food the way they do on the Food Network, but it looked nice to me. I did my best to make it look appetizing and it was good for me. Although, in retrospect, I do have Mint and Chocolate Mint HERBS that I could have picked and used as a garnish….and consumed! Double Yum!!!
My point is… let the enjoyment of food continue to be a way of life for you; just in a different way. From the planning to preparation, to using colors and varying protein choices, garnishes, textures, flavors, etc… Do it for yourself. Take your time. It’s our NEW way of enjoying food. Even go as far as picking some flowers (even if its a couple pieces of fern and a nice leaf) put them in water in the middle of your table, get out the nice silverware and plates (instead of the paper ones) and ENJOY.
