Lutz Motorcyclist Killed In 1-275 Crash
The accident happened early Wednesday morning north of Ashley Drive in downtown Tampa.

TAMPA, FL — A 33-year-old Lutz man is dead following a single-vehicle crash on southbound Interstate 275 early Wednesday morning.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, William Ferreras-Mercedes was heading southbound around 1:13 a.m. “at a high rate of speed.” Ferreras-Mercedes was in the inside lane just north of Ashley Drive when he lost control of his Honda motorcycle.
The bike left the road and hit the center median wall, a highway patrol report said. Ferreras-Mercedes was thrown from the motorcycle and struck a light pole in the median, the report said.

Several vehicles struck Ferreras-Mercedes after the crash. They all left the scene before troopers arrived, the agency said.
Ferreras-Mercedes died at the scene.

No further details are available at this time. Troopers did note that alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
Charges are pending further investigation. Descriptions of the vehicles that ran over Ferreras-Mercedes are not available.
