During an interview with detectives, Heady, who is homeless, said heβd been drinking when he went to the home of the couple he was acquainted with and asked for money. When the couple refused, he told sheriff's deputies that he flew into a "rage."
Heady said the couple had been sitting on the living room couch playing solitaire and watching television when he began punching the man on the head and then turned his attention to the woman when she tried to get up from the couch to escape. He told detectives he struck them so hard he thought his right wrist was broken.
He said he must have blacked out during portions of the attack because he didn't remember grabbing the butcher knife and stabbing the couple.
Heady was arrested and charged with homicide and attempted homicide.
The woman was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. The name of the woman and the man who was killed have not been released.
