New Businesses Coming to Lutz?

The old Lions Club building on 1st Street Southwest is under new ownership and is getting a new look.

Duane Ingram sat in the shade of trees at the Lutz Veterans Service Memorial park Wednesday morning, patiently waiting for work crews to arrive at the old Lions Club building on 1st Street Southwest.

As the new owner of the property at 19002 1st St. S.W., Ingram is eager to see the building refurbished and ready for tenants to move in. He said he’s hoping to lease the space to two separate businesses in the near future and thinks the spots would be ideal for anyone in the pet industry due to building’s proximity to Carolyn Meeker Park, which is also known as the Lutz Dog Park.

The spaces are currently available for lease through Doyle & McGrath by calling 813-948-7368.

If Ingram can’t rent them out, he’s considering opening his own doggy daycare, he said.

The old building was constructed in the 1950s and hit the tax rolls in 1951, Ingram said. Considering the age, he’s also considering getting the space, which he said once served as the Lutz Post Office, on the county’s historic register.
