Pasco Couple Accused Of Stealing Disabled Man's Debit Card

A Pasco County couple has been arrested after being accused of stealing and making purchases with a debit card taken from a disabled man.

DADE CITY, FL -- A Pasco County couple has been arrested after being accused of stealing and making purchases with a debit card taken from a disabled resident.

According to the Pasco County Sheriff's Office, Montgomery Reed Mitchell, 34, and Stephanie Mae Watts, 43, of Zephyrhills were arrested on Tuesday, Oct. 23, after a Dade City man who uses a wheelchair reported that the couple took his debit card without his permission and used it to make purchases and withdrawals totaling $1,499.99.

A surveillance video from the Dade City Walmart corroborated the victim's story. It shows the couple using his debit card to make a $53.89 purchase.

When deputies investigated the couple, they discovered there were outstanding warrants for their arrest on charges including violation of probation, fleeing and eluding a law enforcement officer, uttering forged bills, criminal use of personal identification and dealing methamphetamine.

Both have now been charged with credit card fraud as well.
