Pedestrian Killed in Lutz Crash

The woman had just exited a Hartline bus before being struck by a car on Livingston Avenue.

Lutz, FL — A 31-year-old Tampa woman is dead following a crash on Livingston Avenue Wednesday night.

According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, Danine Perdue had just gotten off a Hartline bus that was heading northbound on Livingston Avenue around 8:40 p.m. The bus stopped at 148th Avenue and Perdue got off and began to walk south and around the back of the bus, an email from the sheriff’s office said.

As Perdue attempted to cross Livingston, she was struck by a southbound Volkswagen Jetta driven by Benjamin Wood, 20, of Tampa.

Deputies say Wood “did not have enough time to take evasive action when Perdue appeared from behind the bus.”

The crash remains under investigation. No charges have been announced at this time.
