Update: More Hillsborough County Road Closings

The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office is asking motorists to avoid several local roads due to flooding and other obstructions.

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, FL — Motorists in Hillsborough County are being asked to avoid several local roads Tuesday morning.

According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, the following roads are inaccessible as of 11:30 a.m. Tuesday:

  • Clifton Street off of Sawyer Road, heavy flooding
  • Trapenell Road and C.A. Bugg Road has one lane blocked due to trees down
  • Gornto Lake and Causeway Boulevard is shut down due to heavy flooding
  • County Road 672 and Heritage Trail Lane is shut down due to street flooding
  • Crooked Lane and Planners Ways is block due to a downed tree
  • Fauna Lane and Francis Drive is shut down due to flooding
  • Florida Circle off Fairway Boulevard is closed due to street flooding
  • State Road 675, west of Highway 39, is closed due to flooding
  • Golf and Sea Boulevard and Miller Mac Road, closed due to flooding

It is unclear just how soon local roads will return to normal.

The entire Tampa Bay area remains under a flood watch until 8 p.m. Tuesday. Showers are anticipated throughout the day Tuesday with the possibility of more thunderstorms, as well.

Street flooding has been reported across the region with roads in St. Petersburg, Tampa and elsewhere also closed.

Scattered thunderstorms are also anticipated throughout the day on Wednesday and into the evening hours. Rain is expected to continue on Thursday, according to the National Weather Service.
