Person Fatally Shot In Bed Next To Baby Found In Pool Of Blood

The Pasco Sheriff's Office has made an arrest in the fatal shooting of a Dade City resident in bed found next to a blood-covered baby.

DADE CITY, FL — The Pasco County Sheriff's Office has made an arrest in the fatal shooting of a Dade City resident in bed next to a baby.

The call came in at 1:06 a.m. Monday. One adult died after being shot in the chest by a 20-gauge shotgun.

Chad Glavich, 39, has been arrested and charged with premeditated murder.

According to a witness who lived in the home with Glavich and the victim, Glavich and the victim were playing a board game in the living room while a baby in their custody slept nearby. The victim then took the baby to the bedroom to go to sleep.

The witness said he saw Glavich walk by his bedroom door several times as if to check on the victim and the baby. Then he took a flashlight and went out to a shed in the yard where he retrieved a Winchester 20-gauge shotgun. The witness said he heard a gun blast and saw Glavich running from the house carrying the shotgun.

The witness rushed to the victim's bedroom.The lights were off but the television was on, illuminating the bed. The witness could see the victim sitting up in bed and the baby next to the victim lying in a pool of blood.

The witness grabbed the baby and discovered the baby was unharmed but the victim had no pulse.

Glavich was arrested at the home of an acquaintance who contacted the sheriff's office because he said Glavich appeared panicky.

When questioned, Glavich told deputies that he thought the victim was trying to "frame" him.

Due to Marsy's Law, the victim's identity is not being released.
