Steinbrenner Band Teacher Accused Of Sex With Student Out On Bond

​A high band school teacher is out of jail after posting a $225,000 surety bond after he was accused of having sex with a student.

LUTZ, FL — A high school band teacher was released from jail Saturday after posting a $225,000 surety bond after being accused of sexual misconduct with a 17-year-old student.

On Friday, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office arrested Steinbrenner High School band teacher Jason Phillip Allgair, 35, and charged him with 30 counts of an authority figure engaging in sexual conduct with a student.

On Friday, deputies met with the former student who provided evidence that, between October 2017 and May 2018, Allgair engaged in sexual acts with her both at Steinbrenner High School, 5575 W. Lutz Lake Fern Road, Lutz, and off campus.

Allgair was arrested at his home in the 16000 block of Grantham Place in New Tampa.

"The care and protection of young students is a teacher's duty. Jason Allgair's alleged actions violated the trust of not only one student, but also the parents, school faculty and community that entrusted him with their children," said Sheriff Chad Chronister. "I commend the victim for finding the courage to speak out about what happened."
