Steinbrenner Girls Golf Holds Onto Regional Title
The Warriors claimed the team regional title, only the second in school history for any sport.
The Warrior girls golf team has been dominant all year. After finishing the regular season undefeated, cruising to a team district title, there was one goal left to reach as they took on the course at Countryside Country Club.
They reached it and reached it in fashion.
Sophomore Claire Becker, who shot a 78 last week at districts, came in with the second flight with a score of 86. Then sophomore Kelsey Holbert came in on the third flight with a 79. Sophomore Kayla Poff came in on the fifth flight with a score of 74. Even junior Brooke Deal came in with a score of 85. Poff's score seemed too low for a sophomore that shot an 88. Indeed it was.

Poff was later disqualified and her score was taken out. It was determined that Poff's scorecard was incorrect.
Still, the Warriors hung on for the team victory. Sophomore Hanna Crosby's score of 102 was added and Steinbrenner still had a score of 352. Still comfortably ahead of second place Palm Harbor University with 367

Poff will not be able to compete at states next week but the team should still be competitive without her.
"If they play up to what they are capable of, they have a shot," Mann said.
