Teacher Accused Of Sending Explicit Texts To 14-Year-Old Student

A teacher at a charter school in Lutz has been arrested for reportedly sending explicit sexual texts to a 14-year-old.

LUTZ, FL -- A teacher at a charter school in Lutz has been arrested for reportedly sending explicit sexual texts through a social media site to a 14-year-old student.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office arrested Scott Robert Wilson, 36, of Northdale, a teacher at the Learning Gate Community School in Lutz, on Thursday, Sept. 27, on a charge of distributing obscene materials to a minor.

According to the sheriff's office, the mother of the 14-year-old found text messages from Wilson on the teen's cell phone Wednesday and contacted the sheriff's office. The teen is a former student of Wilson's.

The messages were sent through Snapchat between May and July, according to the sheriff's office.

When interviewed, Wilson admitted to sending the messages.

The Learning Gate Community School is a Hillsborough County charter school for students in kindergarten through sixth grade located at 16215 Hanna Road.

Wilson was booked into Orient Road Jail and is being held on $2,000 bond.

Detectives do not believe there are other victims involved. However, anyone with information related to Wilson is asked to call the sheriff’s office at 813-247-8200.
