Troopers Say Man Was Drunk When He Drove Wrong Way On I-75

The Florida Highway Patrol said a 27-year-old man was drunk when he began traveling north in the southbound lanes of Interstate 75.

NEW PORT RICHEY, FL -- The Florida Highway Patrol said a 27-year-old man was drunk when he began traveling north in the southbound lanes of Interstate 75 just after midnight on Friday, Jan. 25.

According to the FHP, Chaise Michael Dunn of Brantley, Alabama, began driving the wrong way on the interstate in Pasco County in his Volkswagen Passat. He ran one driver off the road and into a guardrail. When another vehicle approached, Dunn steered his car into a concrete barrier wall. He then tried to flee the scene but was apprehended by Pasco County Sheriff's deputies.

The highway patrol said his blood alcohol level was 0.341. The level to be considered drunk in Florida is 0.08.

Dunn was charged with leaving the scene of a crash, driving in the wrong direction and DUI.
