LUTZ, FL -- Guido the pug was reunited with his best friend and owner Donald Murray on Wednesday, July 4.
After being featured in news reports (see related story) and social media, someone called in an anonymous Crime Stoppers tip which led to the once-separated pair finding each other again.
Ever since Murray's car was stolen on May 29 with Guido in it, he has been desperately trying to find his friend. He feared the worst. But after the tip came in, Hillsborough County Sheriff's detectives were able to quickly run down the leads for a happy ending.

Through witness interviews and surveillance video, detectives learned that the car thief abandoned Guido behind the Publix Plaza at 19221 N. Dale Mabry Highway immediately after stealing Murray's car. Guido wandered over to an employee of the Majik Touch Cleaners & Laundry who thought that the dog's owner had just decided to abandon him.
Karlene Rowell, another employee at the cleaners, took Guido home and has been taking care of him for the last month. She had no idea that Guido had been stolen and that his owner was looking for him. When she got off work earlier last night, detectives took Murray to her home and confirmed that it was Guido that she had been caring for.
