• SJCCA celebrates new president (pineisland-eagle.com) — A former president of the Matlacha Hookers is now leading the St. James City Civic Association, working to keep membership fees low and activities accessible for nearby residents. She's focused on making the civic center a social lifeline, especially for retirees and widows, with concerts, classes, and event rentals that help keep the facility financially sustainable.
• Resource created on proposed Plan, LDC changes (pineisland-eagle.com) — Matlacha residents are being urged to review major proposed changes to Lee County's Comprehensive Plan and Land Development Code that could weaken community plans and reduce local input on development. A new website, LeeCommunities.com, created by a coalition including the Matlacha Civic Association, offers side‑by‑side comparisons, talking points, and contacts so locals can weigh in before commissioners meet Oct. 7.
