2 Dead, 6 Injured After Gunman Opens Fire In Doral Bar: Police
Police said a security guard was killed when they attempted to intervene during an early morning fight at Martini Bar in Doral.
DORAL, FL — A security guard was killed and several other people were injured when a gunman opened fire at a martini bar in Doral early Saturday morning, according to police. The gunman was also fatally shot, police said.
According to a news conference streamed by WSVN, Miami-Dade police said the shooting happened around 3:30 a.m. when a fight broke out between patrons at Martini Bar at CityPlace Doral.
According to police, when a security guard attempted to intervene, a person took out a gun and fatally shot the guard.

Authorities said police working at the bar immediately responded and exchanged gunfire with the gunman, who was fatally shot by an officer.
According to police, one of the responding officers suffered a gunshot wound to their lower body. Doral Police Chief Edwin Lopez said the officer was a four-year veteran of the department.

During the exchange of gunfire, police said six bystanders — one woman and five men — were struck by bullets. Police said two of the victims are in critical condition while the remaining four are in stable condition.
Police said it's unclear whether the officers or the shooter struck the bystanders.
Authorities did not release the names of the shooter, the victims or the involved officers.
In a statement provided to Patch, the owners of Martini Bar said they were "completely shaken by this senseless act of violence."
"Our hearts are broken by the tragedy that unfolded at our venue early this morning that took the life of a dedicated security guard and injured several others," the statement read. "We’re working diligently to ensure that all those affected by this feel supported in every way possible. We are conducting our own internal investigation, as well as cooperating fully with all authorities. This trauma will be felt deeply by us all for a long time to come, and we are here for our community today, and always."
The shooting remains under investigation by the Doral and Miami-Dade police departments as well as the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.
