2 Cuban Migrants Land Motorized Hang Glider In FL Keys: Sheriff
Piloting a motorized hang glider, 2 Cuban migrants flew into Key West International Airport Saturday morning, Monroe County sheriff said.

KEY WEST, FL — Two Cuban migrants flew into Florida on a motorized hang glider on Saturday morning, the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office wrote on Facebook.
The migrants landed at Key West International Airport around 10:30 a.m., the agency said.
Cuba is about 90 miles south of Key West, the southernmost point of Florida and the continental United States.

Neither of the men were injured during their journey. After they landed, they were turned over to the custody of the U.S. Border Patrol.

Their landing also didn’t disrupt flights at the airport, airport officials said.
“There were no interruptions in service and operations continue as normal,” Richard Strickland, director of airports, said in a comment shared on the KWIA Facebook page.
Florida has seen an influx of Cuban refugees in recent months. Since Aug. 21, nearly 11,000 migrants have been intercepted and repatriated after trying to enter the state illegally, according to a new release from Gov. Ron DeSantis’ office.
In response to the surge in migration, DeSantis declared a state of emergency on Jan. 6. He extended it on March 10.
