3 New Coronavirus Vaccination Sites Launching In Broward: Report

BROWARD COUNTY, FL — Three new coronavirus vaccine distribution sites are launching in South Florida.

To work through the more than 40,000 people on its vaccine waiting list, Broward County is opening a new COVID-19 vaccination site at the Coral Square Mall, located at 9469 W. Atlantic Blvd in Coral Springs, Wednesday, the Miami Herald reported.

Vaccines are being offered at the walk-in site to people 65 and older with confirmed appointments, Dale V.C. Holness, District 9 commissioner, said in an email newsletter.

Those eligible will eventually be able to register for a vaccine online. For now, though, the vaccine supply at this and other Broward County sites will be provided to the people currently on a Department of Health waiting list, reports said.

The city of Coral Springs suggested that residents interested in the vaccine text “CoralSprings” to 888-777 to receive updates about availability.

Gov. Ron DeSantis announced Sunday that seven churches across the state will set up temporary vaccination sites, NBC 6 reported.

Two of these locations are in South Florida: New Mount Olive Baptist Church at 400 NW 9th Avenue in Fort Lauderdale and the Koinonia Worship Center at 4900 W. Hallandale Blvd. in Hollywood.

The governor said he hopes to target Black communities with these temporary sites.
