40 Lbs. Of Horse Meat Illegally Sold: Miami-Dade Police
One person was arrested for the illegal sale of 40 pounds of slaughtered horse meat in South Florida, Miami-Dade police said.

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, FL — One person was arrested for the illegal sale of 40 pounds of slaughtered horse meat, according to a Miami-Dade Police Department news release.
Detectives with the agency’s Agricultural Investigative Unit received a tip Monday that a horse was recently slaughtered for the harvest and sale of its meat.
Investigators then organized an operation Wednesday to purchase the horse meat from this individual.

Detectives monitored the transaction, in which the individual received $500 for the 40 pounds of meat, police said. The person was taken into custody and charged.
The horse meat was given to investigators with the United States Department of Agriculture for testing and identification.
