Miami Slice also placed third nationally for slices and, along with three other Miami-area pizzerias, now qualifies for the upcoming 100 Best Pizzerias in the World list.
2. Florida approves $15 million for security at Miami Catholic schools (hanfordsentinel.com) — Catholic schools in the Archdiocese of Miami, including many in Miami-Dade, are set to receive a share of $15 million in new state security funding for building upgrades and more safety officers. The money, tucked into Florida’s newly approved budget now awaiting the governor’s signature, follows growing concerns about school violence and could significantly change security at local Catholic campuses.
3. Shocking video shows car slamming into tree near Miami condo mere feet away from people, sparking safety concerns (cbsnews.com) — A speeding car crashed into a tree along Brickell Avenue near Echo Brickell, narrowly missing pedestrians and reigniting long-standing safety fears at Southeast 15th Road. Miami residents and condo leaders say the corner has seen multiple wrecks and have repeatedly urged the city for fixes like posts and better signage, while Commissioner Damian Pardo’s office now promises a meeting to discuss solutions.
