Today's riddle: What is full of holes but still holds water? 🤔 (Answer below!)
1. Miami Cuban exile monuments face neglect, planned relocation (local10.com) — A Miami neighborhood monument honoring Operation Peter Pan children is deteriorating, and the city plans to repair it and relocate several Cuban exile memorials to a newer Peter Pan site on Cuban Memorial Boulevard. Some residents welcome the idea of a safer, more visible cluster of monuments, while others want their neighborhood memorial restored but left in place until work begins in 2027.
2. Miami voters move city elections to even years, back Marine Stadium deal (miamitimesonline.com) — Miami voters have approved moving city elections to even-numbered years and authorizing a long-term private operator for Miami Marine Stadium and its flex park. The changes will eventually shorten one set of commission terms and could bring up to $10 million in stadium repairs, new waterfront recreation space, and a revenue-sharing deal that keeps most event income with the city.
3. Father accused of shooting son during argument at Miami Gardens home, police say (cbsnews.com) — A domestic dispute at a Miami Gardens home ended with a father allegedly shooting his adult son through a glass door, sending him to the hospital in stable condition. Neighbors told CBS News Miami they heard multiple gunshots and say police had visited the home days earlier, while officers continue searching for the suspect.
4. Police arrest pair accused of burglarizing more than 15 cars in Miami Springs (cbsnews.com) — Police say more than 15 cars were burglarized in nearby Miami Springs, with suspects stealing guns, credit cards, and two vehicles before being arrested in West Hialeah. Officers recovered six firearms, including one taken in Miami Springs, and are urging residents across the Miami area to lock cars and secure weapons.
5. Final auditions heat up as dancers compete for Miami Heat roster spots (local10.com) — In downtown Miami, finalists packed Kaseya Center for an intense last round of auditions to claim coveted Miami Heat Dancer spots. After a grueling weeklong boot camp, only 20 of 33 hopefuls made the roster, capping years of training for dancers joining the Heat family.
