Aventura Arts & Cultural Center Now Accepting New Volunteer Ushers

Aventura Arts & Cultural Center kicks off an exciting new season and is offering opportunities for community-minded individuals to join its volunteer ushering corps and become part of the team that helps bring each performance to life. Volunteers have the opportunity to enjoy the arts while connecting with fellow theater enthusiasts and contributing to the audience experience when welcoming them and ushering them to their seats. Applications for new volunteers are currently being accepted. A two-hour orientation is set for 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, October 28.

Volunteer opportunities are open to everyone from high school students fulfilling community service hours to retired seniors. Volunteers choose a continuing evening or matinee shift joining a team of others in that same shift. Volunteers must be 16 years of age or older and commit to a regular weekly shift schedule for a day or night performance.

Those interested in volunteering must first apply online at aventuracenter.org/volunteer. Applicants will be contacted by the volunteer coordinator prior to the scheduled orientation to confirm attendance. Volunteers are eligible to begin ushering performances upon completion of the two-hour orientation and training session.

Priority is given to full-time Florida residents and those who are regularly available for the following shifts:

·Thursday evenings, any event scheduled at 4 p.m. or later

·Saturday evenings, any event scheduled at 4 p.m. or later

·Sunday matinees, any event scheduled at 3:59 p.m. or earlier

The Broward Center for the Performing Arts manages the Aventura Arts & Cultural Center, a 14,864-square-foot, 330-seat waterfront complex that hosts performing arts, cultural and educational programming for all ages.
