Burglary Suspect Stabbed Cab Driver, Stole Taxi: Police
The burglary occurred at the Kosher Kingdom Market in Aventura.

AVENTURA, FL — A burglary suspect was taken into custody on Wednesday after he allegedly stabbed a cab driver and then stole his taxi while making his getaway. The burglary occurred around 7:30 p.m. at the Kosher Kingdom Market. Police said that a customer was inside the taxi at the time.

"The subject got into a cab at the 3100 Block of North Country Club Drive," Sgt. Chris Goranitis of the Aventura Police Department told Patch. "He implied that he had a gun and displayed a pair of scissors which he used to stab the cab driver."

Goranitis said that the suspect had just burglarized the Kosher Kingdom Market at 3017 Aventura Boulevard and was being followed by a store employee when he came across the taxi.

"The cab driver and a tourist in the vehicle exited the cab as the subject fled with the stolen vehicle," Goranitis said.
He said that the suspect was taken into custody in the 19300 block of Collins Avenue.
"The cab driver sustained a rip to his shirt and small scratch to his shoulder as a result of the stabbing," Goranitis added.
