Street Renaming: "St. Fort Drive" to Commemorate Evans St. Fort and the St. Fort Family

– In a powerful tribute to Haitian-American heritage and community impact, the City of North Miami Beach will officially rename a street "St. Fort Drive" in honor of Evans St. Fort and the St. Fort family. The ceremonial unveiling will take place on Saturday, May 31, 2025, at 3 PM, at 16480 NE 19th Ave, North Miami Beach, FL 33162, to close out Haitian Heritage Month—an especially fitting way to celebrate a legacy of service, entrepreneurship, and cultural pride.

Evans St. Fort, a respected funeral director and founder of St. Fort's Funeral Home, has provided compassionate care to families in South Florida for over two decades. Born and raised in Florida, he launched the funeral home at the age of 25, having earned a degree in Mortuary Science. Inspired by his Haitian roots and his father's entrepreneurial spirit, Evans built the business from the ground up, often managing every detail himself—from embalming to grief counseling.

Driven by a mission rooted in purpose over profit, Evans has prioritized dignity, respect, and service above all. Under his leadership, the funeral home expanded to multiple locations and became a critical support system during the COVID-19 pandemic. Beyond professional achievements, Evans actively advocates for destigmatizing death through community workshops and public education on end-of-life planning.

"This gesture is deeply humbling for my family and me," said Evans St. Fort. "To have our name permanently woven into the fabric of this city is a tremendous honor. We hope it serves as a reminder that our stories, our sacrifices, and our contributions matter."

North Miami Beach Mayor Michael Joseph stated, "Renaming a street in honor of the St. Fort family not only acknowledges decades of service and impact—it celebrates a legacy that has touched countless lives. Evans St. Fort embodies the compassion, leadership, and cultural pride that uplifts our city. We are proud to honor his family in such a lasting and meaningful way."

"St. Fort Drive" stands as a lasting tribute to resilience, community service, and generational legacy. It also highlights the essential role of Haitian and Black-owned businesses in shaping the cultural and economic fabric of South Florida.
