Coastal Cleanup Initiative partners with Zoo Miami’s Ron Magill
For second Biscayne Bay cleanup
WHAT: After witnessing the extraordinary amount of trash along Key Biscayne during a family boating trip, Alejandro Mendieta, president of the Coastal WealthPrivate Client Group and his children Elle,11, Alejandro Jr.,10, Skyler, 10, and Nicholas, 7, turned their concern into action by founding The Coastal Cleanup Initiative.
The cleanup is scheduled for Saturday, December 6, 2025, marking the second cleanup following their inaugural event on March 1, 2025. Zoo Miami Communications Director Ron Magill, a partner in the event, will join the cleanup. “Due to the overwhelming success and interest for this initiative, we plan to hold a minimum of two cleanups each year,” said Mendieta.
The group’s conservation efforts remain focused on safeguarding local beaches and protecting sea turtles. Young conservationists and respected community volunteers will take part in activities including:
• Cleaning the shoreline and protecting local wildlife
• Supporting sea turtle nesting initiatives
• Preparing wooden stakes and materials for the 2026 Sea Turtle Nesting Season

WHO: The Mendieta family is collaborating with community partners, including youth organizations, local volunteers, and conservation advocates. Proceeds and support efforts will continue benefiting conservation and community enrichment causes aligned with the Mendieta children’s mission, including the Ron Magill Conservation Endowment and the Elena A. Miranda Foundation. Earlier this year, the Mendieta children raised and presented $7,500 to the Ron Magill Conservation Endowment, supporting global wildlife conservation projects focused on endangered species, habitat protection, and education.

WHY: This special conservation day invites families, schools, youth groups, and community partners to unite in protecting South Florida’s wildlife and coastlines. Earlier this year in March, more than 400 children and families took part in its inaugural cleanup, igniting a growing, youth-driven conservation movement across South Florida.
