The Joseph Caleb Auditorium’s Caleb Around Town Birth of Black Music Series celebrates the Father of the Blues W. C. Handy’s recording of “Memphis Blues,” the 1908 publication of “I Got the Blues,” and some of America’s most notable blues songs, performed by legendary South Florida blues musicians Val and Mojo Ike Woods. Hear timeless classics and explore the sounds that influenced generations of American music. The program also features a special poetic presentation by spoken-word artist Rebecca “Phoenix” Vaughns.
