MIAMI — No one was injured after an Atlas Air Boeing cargo plane that left the Miami International Airport made an emergency landing due to engine malfunction, per media reports.
Videos circulating social media indicate a portion of Atlas Air Flight 5Y095, which reportedly left Miami around 10:15 p.m. and was headed for Puerto Rico, caught fire midair.

The New York Times reported Friday the plane returned to the Miami airport about 50 minutes after takeoff, traveling about 60 miles.
The outlet reported proper protocol was followed and an inspection is taking place to determine what caused the engine trouble.

Both The Times and Reuters reported the Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the incident. Reuters reported the Boeing was 8 years old.
Boeing has been in the news recently after a Boeing 737 MAX 9 jet sustained a cabin panel blowout, causing an emergency stop and the FAA to briefly ground 171 jets for safety reviews, Reuters reported.
