MIAMI, FL — It's time to get your inner goblin on at Halloween events around Miami. You can choose from haunted houses to special events at local restaurants, bars and even museums. Patch will keep updating this list so be sure to check back often, if you dare.

MIAMI

Spooky Science Monster Mash at the Phillip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science, Saturday Oct. 28 from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., 1101 Biscayne Blvd.

Suit up in your favorite costume and join us for our Spooky Science Monster Mash. We’re putting a Frost Science spin on Halloween with bone-chilling science experiments and creepy, cool encounters throughout the day. Guests will also get a chance to experience the debut of our newest exhibition, Monster Fish: In Search of the Last River Giants, which will guide you through the world’s freshwater rivers as you learn about the bizarre and colossal ancient fish that silently roam their depths.

Some of the day’s spooky science includes:

• The Smoking Cauldron: Is it magic… or science? Using the powers of energy transformation, watch as we experiment with dry ice and liquid nitrogen during some super “chilling” demonstrations!
• Underwater Pumpkin Carving: In a Frost Science first, we’ll be carving a pumpkin… underwater! Join our aquarium team as we create some frightening jack-o-lanterns in the waters of our Gulf Stream aquarium.
• The Truth About Sharks: Some things can seem really scary. That is, until we get a chance to truly understand them. Learn about the biology of sharks and find why most have such sharp teeth — and what they eat with them.
• Bird Encounter: What goes “bump in the night?” Nocturnal animals, of course. Meet one of our owls and explore how their unique avian behaviors lead to their survival.
• Do-It-Yourself Chemistry: Join our partners in the American Chemical Society of South Florida as they wow us with thrilling series of hands-on experiments to celebrate National Chemistry Week.

Spooky Science Monster Mash programming is free with paid museum admission. All programming is ongoing throughout the day.

Freak Show Halloween, Saturday October 28 at E11EVEN, 29 NE 11th Street. Known for presenting unforgettable up close and personal live performances and appearances by some of the biggest names in the music industry, this Halloween will not disappoint. American rapper and record producer Lil Jon, known for his hits “Get Low,” “Yeah” and “Turn Down for What,” is set to take the stage. Sunday, October 29th Party Favor will take over the DJ booth for the night. On Halloween night, Tuesday, October 31st, international DJ & Producer BORGORE will be the ring leader in the DJ booth for the Freak Show Grand Finale. Additional DJ appearances to be announced.

HalloWynwood, Tuesday Oct. 31 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Roberto Clemente Park, 101 N.W. 34st St. Join the Miami Police Department for Family fun and Trick-O-Treating at the first annual HalloWynwood haunted house. Call 305.960.2904.

Halloween Trick-or-Treat Parade, Tuesday Oct. 31 noon at Holtz Children’s Hospital. This event is only open to children who are patients at Holtz Children’s Hospital. Little witches and villains will invade the hallways of Holtz Children’s Hospital for the annual Halloween Trick-or-Treat Parade. The parade is hosted by the hospital’s Child Life Department. Children who would otherwise be spending Halloween in the hospital will trick-or-treat through the halls, where staff members dressed in costumes will hand out Halloween-themed candy. The parade will lead to a party with arts and crafts, Star Wars personalities, superheroes and clowns. Also participating will be the Miami Theatre Group, UM Law students, Miami Fire Department, Guardian Angels & Young Angels, and other volunteers dressed in Halloween costumes. The hospital is located at 1611 NW 12 Ave.

MIAMI BEACH

Safe Night of Fright, Friday Oct. 27 from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at 6:30 p.m., North Shore Park Youth Center, 501 72 Street. Enjoy a safe night of fright that includes a movie in the park and "trunk or treat." Admission is free but refreshments are extra.

Halloween Happenings, Tuesday Oct. 31 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., Scott Rakow Youth Center, 2700 Sheridan Avenue. Visit a haunted house, play carnival games, enjoy Halloween treats and take your costumed devils to Trick-or-Treat Street. The cost is $5 for Trick-or-Treat Street and the carnival games; $2 for the haunted house. Refreshments will be available for an extra charge.

Dia de Los Muertos, Wednesday Nov. 1 at Bodega Taqueria y Tequila, 1220 16th St from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.
The Miami Beach taco spot and bar will be celebrating from with $5 select shots and $6 cocktails while dancing to eclectic tunes.

Halloween Weekend for LIV at Fontainebleau, Thursday Oct. 26 to Sunday Oct. 29, 4441 Collins Ave. The famed Miami Beach nightclub has a Halloween weekend lineup to die for. The fun starts on Thursday night with reggaeton artist Karol G and DJ Alex Sensation. Friday features Fergie while Hardwell takes the stage on Saturday and LIV on Sunday. Lolo's Halloween Sunset Party Sunday, October 29th from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Lolo’s Surf Cantina, 161 Ocean Dr. Start your Halloween party plans early with this free event. Stranger Things Halloween Party, Friday Oct. 27 at Purdy Lounge from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., 1811 Purdy Ave. Get ready to see some Stranger Things in honor of the release of season two that night. Purdy Lounge will be hosting the ultimate party in collaboration with Brothers & Brawlers Wynwood and Ketel One Vodka. Expect a Stranger Things-inspired specialty cocktail crafted using Brothers & Brawlers coffee, a recreation of the Alphabet Mural and a costume contest with winners in two categories: Best Stranger Things Inspired Costume and Best Overall Costume. BAY HARBOR ISLANDS

Annual Halloween Day Parade & Carnival Tuesday, October 31 at 3:05 p.m., the Ruth K. Broad K-8 Center Athletic Field, 1155 93rd St. The Town of Bay Harbor Islands, together with the Miami Beach Chamber of Commerce and the BHI Business District invite children and families to meet in costume after school for a costume parade through downtown. We'll walk the Kane Concourse, receiving treats from participating businesses in the district and finish at Town Hall for games, music and more. All children must be accompanied by an adult. AVENTURA

Halloween Movie Night Tuesday, October 31 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Founders Park, 3105 NE 190 St. The city of Aventura invites all ghosts, goblins, witches, heroes and fairies to celebrate Halloween at Founders Park. The event will feature a DJ, interactive games, bounce houses, activity stations, arts and crafts and food trucks. Parking is available at the Aventura Government Center parking garage, 19200 W Country Club Drive as well as at the Harbour Centre on the corner of NE 188 Street and NE 29 Avenue. Halloween at The Biltmore Hotel Friday, Oct. 27 and Saturday, Oct. 28 from 8 p.m. to midnight, 1200 Anastasia Avenue in the Country Club Ballroom. KINGS Doral celebrates Halloween with a number of themed nights like Monster Mash, Pumpkin Patch, Totally 80s, and a Howling Happy Hour. Halloween Party Saturday Oct. 28 to Tuesday Oct. 31 at Westland Gardens Park, 13501 NW 107th Ave. Join Mayor de La Cruz and city council members at the "scariest haunted house in South Florida." The event runs from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Halloween and until 9 p.m. on the other nights. Halloween “Yappy” Hour Canine and Companions Costume Contest on Tuesday Oct. 31 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Portico at The Diplomat Beach Resort, 3555 S Ocean Dr. Portico is a waterfront beer and wine garden serving sharable, light Italian fare with an exclusive on-tap beer and wine program. Bark your calendars for all dogs, pet owners and friends to enjoy. Slip a costume on your precious pup and enter them in the Canine and Companions Costume Contest. The most creative costume wins. Halloween Community Event Tuesday, Oct. 31 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Rolling Oaks Park, 18701 NW 17th Avenue. Trunk-or-Treat Car Show and Movie Night on Tuesday, Oct. 31 from 6 to 9:30 p.m. at Coral Reef Park, 7895 SW 152nd St. Wear a great costume for a chance to enter a raffle and take home great prizes. This not-so-frightening celebration will be full of fun with a campfire, raffles, goodies, and of course, lots and lots of free candy. Plus, enjoy an outdoor movie experience with your friends, family and neighbors, as we show the movie you selected, "The Addams Family." There will even be a Trunk-or-Treat Car Show contest. Bring at least six to eight sealed bags of candy and a decorated car trunk. Prizes will be given to the best decorated car. To participate, you must register at www.benefitcarshows.com. Guests can enjoy a dining experience with unparalleled ocean views and 700-degree lava stones to cook their own entrees at the table. Entrees range from 8 ounce prime filet mignon to jumbo sea scallops or an 8 ounce lobster tail — each accompanied by one side — from paella style rice to Spanish chorizo potato salad and complemented by a special sauce such as pineapple jalapeño pico de gallo or key lime compound butter. Fear the Territory Night presented by IT’SUGAR Saturday Oct. 28, 5:30 p.m. at the BB&T Center, 1 Panther Pkwy. This Florida Panthers Halloween-themed event takes place prior to the Panthers 7 p.m. match-up with the Detroit Red Wings. Fans and families can take part in “Spookie Cookie Night” by decorating Halloween cookies and drinking “Witches Brew” apple cider before the game. Following the game, fans can take part in trick-or-treating on the ice. A $2 donation fee (cash only) is required to participate in the trick-or-treat session with all proceeds going towards the Florida Panthers Foundation. HALLOWEEN SAFETY TIPS

With almost everyone carrying smartphones today, it’s easier than ever for parents to keep tabs on their little goblins.

AT&T compiled the following list of tips that will help make this a safe and fun Halloween:

• Pre-program ICE – In Case of Emergency – numbers into your child’s speed dial on their cell phone, such as your number, a neighbor and the police station. Make sure your child knows how to use their device in case of an emergency, such as dialing 9-1-1 and providing their location, landmarks, etc. to the 9-1-1 operator.
• Make sure your children’s cell phones are fully charged before they leave the house.
• Use the alarm clock on your child’s phone to give them periodic reminders to text or call home along their route, or to remind them when it’s time to head home. Make sure the volume on the device is at its highest so the child can hear it in a crowd.
• Create a wireless “Trick-or-Treat” patrol for your neighborhood. Have various parents stationed along your community’s trick-or-treat route and have them text one another when kids have reached certain points and are heading home. The patrol is a great way for adults to monitor Halloween activities in their neighborhood as well.
• Peace-of-mind may also be just a download or click away. Here are some helpful apps:
  • Download a free FLASHLIGHT app so your child’s device can be used for easy navigation along dark streets.
  • Download the RedPanic Button app to your child’s device for extra peace-of-mind. The free version of this app allows trick-or-treaters the option to press the Red Panic Button to automatically send out a text message with their exact coordinates on Google Maps to family members. Panic can also be shared on Facebook or Twitter.
  • Track your trick-or-treater with a location-based service, like AT&T FamilyMap, which lets you track the location of your child’s device on an interactive map from your smartphone, PC or tablet.
  • Use a Sex Offender Search app to see if there are any registered sex offenders living along your child’s trick-or-treat route. Simply activate your smartphone's GPS and connect to the National Sex Offender Registry to locate registered sex offenders and predators in the area. You can search by name, address, and zip code, and results will be displayed on an interactive map. Click on a location for more details, such as pictures, names addresses, and a list of offenses. The app is free.
