A waterfront estate at 270 S. Hibiscus Drive has sold for $51.5 million, setting new records for both sale price and price per square foot on Miami Beach's guard-gated Hibiscus and Palm Islands. The transaction surpassed the previous record sale of approximately $40 million, despite that property encompassing a larger residence on a larger lot.Denis Smykalov, broker and founder of Wolsen Real Estate, represented the seller in the transaction."This sale reflects where Miami Beach's luxury market is today," said Smykalov. "Buyers continue to recognize the value of exceptional design, craftsmanship and waterfront locations. Properties of this caliber rarely become available, and demand remains strong when they do."The property, which was recently completed, is coming to market for the first time since the seller acquired it as an unfinished shell in 2021. Rather than simply complete the original plans, the residence was reimagined through a joint venture led by Luis Bosch, founder of Luis Bosch Luxury Homes, who oversaw the home's redesign and construction.The estate combines two waterfront lots totaling approximately 21,000 square feet, with 120 feet of water frontage, and offers more than 10,000 square feet of living space. Back to school, back to saving the day! <a href="https://voicesbroward.org/" rel="noopener nofollow" target="_blank">Voices for Children of Broward County</a>&nbsp;(Voices) hosted its annual Back-to-School Extravaganza&nbsp;at Old Navy in Oakwood Plaza in Hollywood on Sunday, Aug. 2.&nbsp;&nbsp;The Back-to-School Extravaganza is a part of Voices&rsquo; year-long 15th anniversary celebration and expands its mission to ensure that every child and young adult in Broward County who has experienced abuse, neglect, or abandonment has access to essential resources and programs that promote long-term stability and well-being.&nbsp;&nbsp;Over 70&nbsp;children in foster care had the opportunity to shop for their back-to-school essentials&nbsp;alongside real-life superheroes, including Voices volunteers, Hollywood Police Department,&nbsp;City of Hollywood Fire Rescue &amp; Beach Safety,&nbsp;Broward County Sheriff&rsquo;s Office and beloved character entertainers Spider-Man, Disney Encanto&rsquo;s Mirabel and K-pop stars Rumi and Mira.&nbsp;&nbsp;Families enjoyed a fun-filled&nbsp;morning, including breakfast, face painting, activities, and a surprise appearance by Florida Panthers&nbsp;Stanley C. Bid to beat hunger! An <a href="http://www.feedingsouthflorida.org/auction" rel="noopener nofollow" target="_blank">online auction</a> during the month will allow bidders access to fun, unique items while supporting Feeding South Florida&rsquo;s hunger relief efforts. &ldquo;Hunger Heroes&rdquo; t-shirts will be available for purchase to raise awareness about hunger. Monetary donations will go further during September with a <a href="http://feedingsouthflorida.org/hungeractionmatch" rel="noopener nofollow" target="_blank">Hunger Action Match</a>, all month long donations will be matched dollar-for-dollar, up to $25,000, by Presenting Sponsor Delta Airlines. Founded in 2020 by Valverde after spending decades rescuing animals on her own, she used her love for her own rescue animals to start Picolinis Animal Rescue. Now, more than six years later, Valverde and her network of fosters, volunteers and friends remain committed to saving injured and special needs animals minutes from euthanasia at local shelters or found the streets of Miami. &ldquo;We rescue some of the region&rsquo;s most vulnerable animals here in South Florida. Unfortunately if a dog comes into a local shelter injured and in need of medical care, they are euthanized because the county doesn&rsquo;t have the resources or medical care available in the shelter. This is where we come in. We pull injured dogs or cats and get them the medical care they need. From dogs hit by cars with broken femurs to special needs dogs and hospice cancer dogs, we have rescued over 300 animals so far and provided them the care and love they need to enjoy their last days on earth. The funds from this contest will go directly to helping us pay for medical vet visits, dog food and other necessary supplies needed to rehabilitate and foster our rescue dogs,&rdquo; Valverde stated.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Supporters and advocates of Picolinis Animal Rescue are encouraged to vote once daily&mdash; all that is needed is a valid email address. &ldquo;Voting only takes a few seconds of time on your phone, but can help us change and improve the lives of many hurt and suffering dogs who are in need of care, love and support,&rdquo; Valverde continued.&nbsp;

According to the latest report from the Best Friends Animal Society, over 378,000 dogs and cats are euthanized in U.S. shelters every year with Florida ranking among the top five states with the highest number of dogs and cats euthanized in shelters. This represents 54% of all euthanized animals. &ldquo;It&rsquo;s our mission to rescue animals from being killed in shelters who otherwise can live normal lives if provided the proper medical treatment and love from a human. We want to get this shelter euthanasia number down and ensure that animals do not leave this earth without experiencing love, safety and compassion,&rdquo; Valverde said.&nbsp;

LOUD and art education champion, Councilwoman Julien, are also launching a new student art internship program for students in grades 9-12 interested in learning more about fashion, art, culture, music, and event management.&nbsp;

The new intern program just kicked off this month in collaboration with Miami-Dade County&rsquo;s Summer Youth Internship Program, with a full team of high school students interested in working on creative artistic projects. &ldquo;Investing in art education and internships is essential for our bright creative youth here in Miami Gardens and beyond.
