Convicted Killer Charged In 1998 Murder, Rape Of FL Mother
A man awaiting execution in Florida prison was indicted last week in connection with the 1998 death of Eileen Truppner in Broward County.
BROWARD COUNTY, FL — A convicted murderer and rapist is facing charges in connection with the 25-year-old killing of a Florida mother in southwest Broward County, authorities announced Monday.
Lucious Boyd was indicted last week on charges of first-degree murder and sexual battery in connection with the 1998 death of Eileen Truppner, according to the Broward County Sheriff's Office. Boyd is currently on Florida's death row after he was convicted of murdering 21-year-old Dawnia Dacosta two weeks before Truppner's death.
Truppner, who was identified only as Jane Doe for more than two decades, was found dead in a grassy area off of U.S. Highway 27, authorities said. According to police, she had been brutally raped before her death.

Truppner’s sister, Nancy Truppner, told Fox 13 that Truppner was a mother who immigrated to the United States from Puerto Rico.
Truppner was identified earlier this year after authorities re-tested a sexual assault kit stemming from the case to determine if Truppner was a possible victim of Roberto Fernandes, a Brazilian national arrested in 2021 in connection with the killings of three South Florida women in 2000 and 2001.

Investigators determined her identity using forensic genetic genealogy, a combination of DNA analysis and traditional genealogy research.
DNA testing also helped investigators connect Boyd to Truppner's death, authorities said.
"Lucious Boyd’s indictment for Eileen’s homicide is possible due to the collaborative efforts of BSO cold case detectives, crime lab analysts and crime scene investigators," Sheriff Gregory Tony said in a statement. "Now, Eileen’s family can put an end to decades of living with uncertainty while detectives continue their mission with one thing in mind — justice has no expiration date."
